Local and national newspapers formulated hypotheses, gathered clues and issued appeals. The television programme Chi l’ha visto? also took an interest in the case.

It would later emerge that Harry Kipper had never existed: he was a fictional character invented by the Luther Blissett collective to test the permeability of the media system. This work does not reconstruct that event, but moves through Friuli as a territory of plausible ambiguity, where a story can be believed because it aligns with the forms it takes and the environment that sustains it.

The people portrayed are not witnesses to anything. They are inhabitants of a landscape that has remained unchanged, even after truth itself has become incidental.

The photographs adopt the language of documentation without actually documenting anything.

They do not distinguish between evidence and staging, between trace and construction, operating along the boundaries of an indeterminacy that has accompanied the photographic image since its inception.

Harry Kipper thus becomes a case through which to observe how a story can move across a territory, be believed, disseminated, and ultimately disappear without leaving a trace.

What’s Different From the Plug-in

The original plug-in was great, but it came with some limitations that were hard to ignore. The biggest one was the workflow friction: every time you wanted to edit a photo, Lightroom would generate an extra TIFF file alongside your original. Over time, that adds up and creates clutter in your folder structure that you didn’t ask for.

With Dehancer Desktop, that’s no longer the case. You can now edit directly on top of your DNG file and save your settings there, exporting a JPEG when you’re ready. It’s a cleaner, more self-contained process.

File Management and Organization

One of the more welcome additions is how the desktop version handles your files. You can now browse your folder structure and external hard drives directly within the program, pin folders as favorites for quick access, and create named project directories to keep your work organized. It’s a workflow that will feel familiar to anyone coming from Lightroom, and it makes Dehancer feel much more like a proper standalone application rather than an extension of something else.

Editing Multiple Photos at Once

This is where the desktop version really starts to pull ahead. In the plug-in, you were editing one photo at a time. In the desktop version, you can select a group of photos, open them together in the edit module, and work through them as a film strip. Once you’re happy with the edit on your first image, you can copy those settings and paste them across the rest - either from within the film strip view or directly from the project gallery.

One small thing worth noting: when you paste edits across images, the changes don’t always render immediately. Clicking to the next image and back seems to resolve it, so it’s a minor bug rather than anything serious, but it’s worth knowing about.

How I Use It - A Note on RAW Photo Processor

While Dehancer Desktop does support editing raw DNG files natively, the way I personally prefer to work is a little different. I use a separate program called RAW Photo Processor (RPP) to first convert my DNGs into a flat, log TIFF file before bringing them into Dehancer. The result is a file with more dynamic range to work with, and in my experience the output feels better for it.

This is entirely a personal preference and an extra step that’s not required - but if you’re someone who likes to have as much information in the file as possible before applying any analog-style treatment, it’s worth exploring. I’ll be covering RPP in more depth in a separate video.

The Editing Process

Once your files are in, the editing process in Dehancer is built around an analog philosophy. You’re choosing a film stock, adjusting how it responds to your image, and working with things like paper type, color density, halation, and bloom - all of which interact in ways that feel much closer to the real thing than most digital alternatives.

A few things I’ve found useful: when working with slide films, the profile will typically default to linear, which tends to work well. For color negatives, you’ll want to explore the paper type options, as switching between them can make a more noticeable difference than you might expect. And on the color side, I tend to pull back on saturation and lean into the color density control instead - it tends to produce a result that feels more natural.

Dehancer also has a good library of built-in film presets to explore, and you can save your own. I work from a handful of custom presets I’ve built over time, which makes the batch editing workflow that much faster.

Exporting

Exporting is straightforward. Select your images, choose between JPEG and TIFF, set your quality, and process. That’s about all there is to it.

Final Thoughts

Dehancer Desktop is a genuinely great piece of software for anyone serious about analog-style photo editing. The combination of proper file management, batch editing, excellent grain control, and the ability to work non-destructively on your raw files makes it a much more capable tool than the plug-in ever was. It still has a couple of rough edges, but nothing that gets in the way of the work.

The subjects include chance passersby, animals, and the remnants of human presence encountered during six years of spontaneous walks with a camera across Poland.

These photographs operate on the borderline between document and interpretation. The shutter release not only freezes time but also extracts non-obvious connections, accidental visual rhymes, and surprising juxtapositions from the chaos of daily life. What escapes notice in the rush of a common day becomes visible here, encouraging a fresh, different perspective on the surrounding world.

The title Common Days and Feast Days suggests that the boundary between the ordinary and the extraordinary is fluid. A “feast day” or “holiday” doesn’t have to be planned—it can happen at any moment, if only we possess the ability to perceive it. This collection proposes such an attitude: a contemplation of the everyday which, when observed with intention, reveals its uniqueness, its absurdity, and its unexpected beauty.

It is a story about the fact that the extraordinary is constantly happening all around us. One only needs to notice.

I try to leave something unsaid. Is what I present truly what is visible at first glance?

Today, Taranto is considered one of the most polluted cities in Europe. For decades, the number of people affected by pollution-related diseases has steadily increased. The industrial plant—referred to locally simply as “the factory”—was transferred from state ownership to various private administrations in the 1990s, before returning to state control in 2020. However, the structural issues responsible for its harmful emissions have never been fully resolved.

Taranto is the city where I was born and where I still live. To investigate it as a photographer has meant confronting a place to which I am deeply connected—a place that holds my family, my friends, and my personal history. In this body of work, I have attempted, as much as possible, to distance myself from my own lived experience and to approach the city with a more analytical, almost scientific perspective.

I chose to conduct this photographic investigation as if it were an autopsy—returning to the original Greek meaning of the word autopsia, “to see with one’s own eyes.” I systematically examined and dissected the streets of Taranto, searching for evidence, while remaining faithful to a photo journalistic approach grounded in direct observation and firsthand knowledge.

The project began with the superimposition of a map of Taranto and its industrial area onto an image resembling a lung tumor scan. From there, I started to conceive of the city as a living body, where the industrial expansion of the 1960s acted like a neoplastic disease: a pathology originating in a specific area and gradually spreading, over time, throughout the entire urban and social fabric.

In Hong Kong these courts are woven deeply into the architecture of the city. Many sit within the vast public housing estates that define its skyline, places where everyday life gathers and circulates. They operate as small social stages embedded within dense urban neighbourhoods, spaces where recreation, observation and community life intersect.

As Ilooked through the camera lens, these familiar spaces began to shift. By isolating fragments of the court and focusing on colour, surface and line, the images move between documentation and abstraction. A place designed for play becomes a composition of form and structure, where the ordinary markings of the court start to read as fields of colour and geometry.

When I photographed them, I was interested in the traces left behind once the game had ended. The painted markings and worn surfaces suggest moments of activity that have already passed. For brief periods the courts fall quiet, allowing colour, form and texture to come forward.

Through these images the courts become fragments of the city itself. Fields of colour and structure that reflect the rhythm and density of Hong Kong, capturing a quiet interval where space briefly takes centre stage.

Each photograph represents a pursuit of stillness and abstraction, captured with a Canon 5D Mark III or Canon G1X. My intention is not to document a location, but to transform it into a refined and graphic composition that invite viewers to experience the quiet strength and unspoken poetry that exist between structure and emptiness.Through this exploration, I aim to give form to silence — to evoke spaces where architecture holds memory, and light becomes emotion.

Influenced by the Bauhaus movement, the photographic investigations of Éric Tabuchi and Nelly Monnier, and the cinematic sensibility of Walt Disney’s art director Ken Anderson, my practice is grounded in a cross-cultural dialogue. I travel extensively through France and Europe, guided by a fascination with Morocco’s luminous landscapes, as well as the monumental austerity of Soviet Brutalism.

The project is about seeing what we would rather not see. Or try to avoid seeing.

Sandboxes are a necessary evil but few people think they are beautiful. They are almost everywhere. We tend to stop seeing such things.

The same applies to some people. Often those who are a bit on the fringes of society. Like the homeless and the mentally ill.

I have tried to take the pictures of sandboxes in a respectful way. Partly because I believe that all people should be met with respect.

For a while I tried to photograph the homeless but it felt difficult to get images that captured their situation in a sufficiently respectful way. The choice fell on sandboxes. For me, they represent the homeless in some way. They are out in all weathers. They often look a little worn.

The origin of the project was that my now deceased mother began to get worse. To deal with the anxiety I felt, I started photographing sandboxes. Photography became a kind of therapy for me.

I think that the reason the project turned out the way it did is because my mother suffered from a psychological illness and that during a period of her life she devoted herself to helping the homeless.

The project is in memory of my mother, you could say.

You trade your time for money. Your attention. Your patience. Your eye. Every frame you capture represents hours you’ll never get back - waiting for light, learning to see, earning the right to notice what others miss.

That exchange should be sacred.

But somewhere along the way, the system stopped honoring it. The money you receive for your work loses value while you sleep. Not because you did anything wrong - but because the structure was designed that way.

This isn’t a conspiracy. It’s just how fiat currency works. And most of us were never taught to see it.

II : The Forgetting

Humanity drifted into a kind of amnesia.

We forgot that value is rooted in time. That money is supposed to represent energy - not leak it. That our creative work, our life force, our days are finite and irreplaceable.

The fiat system trained us to accept this quietly. Work more. Receive less. Call it normal.

This isn’t a failure of hustle or talent. It’s the symptom of a monetary system that extracts from everyone who depends on it - slowly, invisibly, continuously.

When money lies about value, life gets heavier. When effort stops corresponding to reward, meaning starts to slip.

IV : The Remembering

Now something is shifting.

People are beginning to feel the weight of their own value again. They’re noticing that their time is not infinite. Their energy is not replaceable. Their creativity is not something to be siphoned.

This remembrance - subtle but powerful - is pulling us back toward clarity.

We’re asking a question that matters:

What kind of system would actually honor our effort instead of draining it?

V : The Search

What would honest money look like?

It wouldn’t lose value through decisions made in distant rooms. It wouldn’t require trust in institutions that change the rules. It wouldn’t let anyone - anywhere - print more of it and dilute your savings.

It would be transparent. Verifiable. Fixed in supply. Owned fully by whoever holds it.

It would reflect reality instead of obscuring it.

For a long time, this seemed impossible.

VI : The Emergence

And then, almost quietly, such a system appeared.

Not controlled by any company, government, or individual. Not a product to be sold - a protocol to be used. Open to anyone. Censurable by no one.

A form of money built on integrity rather than inflation. Transparency rather than trust. Rules instead of rulers.

It doesn’t extract from you. It doesn’t hide from you. It simply exists - and it works.

“It’s too volatile”

“It’s too complicated”

“It’s only for criminals”
